General Information for Students

Hello, and congratulations on being accepted to UC Berkeley!

CS KickStart is a one-week in-person program for UC Berkeley’s incoming female-identifying freshmen students interested in computer science. All programming, housing, and meals will be provided to accepted participants free of charge. It will take place Sunday, August 6th, 2023 to Saturday, August 12th 2023. The priority deadline for this application is June 4 at 11:59 PM PST. The regular deadline for this application is June 11 at 11:59 PM PST. Decision date will be announced on the CSK Instagram .

The mission of CS KickStart is to encourage more female students to study computer science by giving them confidence, inspiration, and support. We want to provide participants with a community they can turn to during their time at UC Berkeley.

Please read the following before filling out this application:

  1. This form uses @ emails. Please make sure you are checking your @ email over the summer. Decisions will be sent to your @berkeley.edu email.

  2. There are multiple pages to this form so please make sure you see the confirmation page to ensure your application has been submitted!

  3. There are 3 required short essay questions. Please note that these essays do not need to be perfect, but rather that we are using these to get to know you and your story better. We do not intend for these essays to take you more than one day.

  4. Attach a PDF of your high school transcript when asked for it in the form. This doesn't have to be your official transcript -- you may simply list the classes you have taken along with the grade you got in each class. You do not need to include your second semester senior year grades. Your application is not complete without your transcript!

  5. Please answer the following questions honestly. We can't wait to learn more about you!
